AGS is looking for an exceptional Database Engineer who willreport to the Director of Systems and is passionate about persistence datastore and who thinks/acts globally. An ideal candidate will possess both adatabase engineering background and has experience with a wide range of problemsolving situations. The role will focus on working with a team of desktopengineers, BI developers and tech savvy professionals to lay down scalable dataarchitecture for large amounts of structured and unstructured data persistencestore to create a coherent customer view

Responsibilities for Database Engineer

  • Ensuring that data being used is secure andavailable
  • Develop and improve the current dataarchitecture for SQL Server and SQL Express
  • Monitor and manage database security andsoftware performance, the DB's logical design, and data architecture to ensureoptimal performance to data consumers, both human and machine
  • Documenting the current state and planning forfuture improvements of the architecture of database(s)
  • Refining database(s) to meet current andprojected storage requirements and aid in data retention planning
  • Installing and testing DBMS updates
  • Ensuring that storage, archiving, and backup andrecovery procedures are functioning properly
  • Review, design and develop data models inconjunction with the application development teams
  • Implementing best practices as defined bydepartmental and industry standards
  • Maintaining strong relationships with bothinternal and external customers
  • Working with front-end developers andparticipating "on-demand" with field service teams when a real-time,immediate, engineering solution is required
  • Root cause analysis of production-relateddatabase issues
  • Designing, documenting and maintaining productarchitecture congruent with technology and market trends.
  • Mentor and develop database engineers.


  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, similar,or 10 years relevant work experience
  • At least 5 years’ work experience in databasedevelopment and support in MSSQL
  • Experience in SQL design and coding (tables,views, indexes, functions, stored procedures, triggers, constraints, etc.);SSIS or similar ETL tool; and SSAS, or similar management tool
  • Strong knowledge of dimensional modeling andother data warehousing techniques.
  • Game industry experience preferred; MCTS, MCITP,MVP, MCSE, MCDBA or MCSD is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, research, and troubleshootingskills and experience in performance tuning.
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills.
  • Desire to tackle complex problems.
  • Understanding of Risk assessment as it pertainsto software functionality and data integrity.
  • Agile methodology or passion is a must.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as, witha team.
