The Materials Specialist will support Operations functions by setting up and maintaining item data in the ERP system and internal databases. Responsible for a variety of material functions including the accurate receiving, stocking, counting, pulling, packing, shipping, and issuing parts and supplies to production and development departments. Processes transactions in inventory and shipping systems and prepares necessary shipping documentation as required.  Enter and execute transfer requests between other warehouses to meet inventory needs. Responsible for reviewing and processing work orders in coordination IAA and compliance. Ensure that accurate part numbers, serial numbers, quantities, destination and tracking information are entered and maintained in the systems and that every order is processed accurately – On time with proper approvals. Safely and efficiently load and unload freight into and off of trucks and trailers.
Coordinate with external vendors to maintain a tidy warehouse by scheduling container swaps for trash and recycling. Coordinate with external vendors to maintain inventory of supplies – hardware, packaging, safety equipment.

Essential Functions:

• Create and update item data in the ERP system and internal databases
• Inspects incoming shipments; compares contents to purchase orders and packing lists; receives parts in inventory system; and notes shortages or nonconformance to specifications
• Checks incoming freight for mishandling and damage; notes any damages on carrier waybills.
• Prepares documents, bills of lading and other shipping paperwork
• Assists with loading and unloading of package and freight trucks
• Stocks parts received from suppliers or returned internally
• Picks and issues parts for production and development
• Processes transactions in inventory system and maintains related paperwork
• Creates transfer and purchase requests as needed to meet demand and/or maintain stock
• Ensures all work orders are processed through the ERP system in a timely manner
• Maintains inventory to ensure part number, bar code, bin quantities, and location are accurate
• Performs inventory counts as required, reports inventory discrepancies to supervisor
• Provides quality responses regarding parts availability, status and delivery of orders 
• Cleans and maintains supplies, tools, equipment, and storage areas in order to ensure compliance with safety regulations
• Schedules container swaps for trash and recycling as needed
• Maintains inventory of supplies – hardware, packaging, safety equipment

Requirements:

• High School or GED required
• One year related work experience preferred
• Highly organized with attentiveness to detail and accuracy
• Relevant experience with data entry or ERP systems preferred
• Written and verbal communication skills required
• Experience working in a warehouse, distribution center or manufacturing facility preferred
• Experience receiving, stocking and shipping parts and supplies
• Experience with efficient and protective packing of parts for shipment
• Experience processing inventory related transactions and paperwork
• Ability to prepare and process shipping related transactions, labels and paperwork
• Ability to carry out a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, and schedule form

Preferred Skills:

• Proficient user of Microsoft Office  - Outlook, Word, Excel Required
• Experience using general office equipment including personal computer, printer and copy machine Required
• Work experience using an ERP, inventory, warehouse or manufacturing system such as Oracle, SAP or MS NAV preferred
